Beloved valley residents have put together activities for visitors to the valley during the summer since the 1950s. It wasn’t until the late 1960s when paid Directors were hired to run the show. Bruce began helping out by calling bingo in the 1970s, by the 80s he had taken over and was running the program.
Our program was meant to get the kids out of their house socializing, hiking and learning about nature, and most importantly having fun. Over the years it has developed to encompass everyone, the young and the old. We offer hikes,
weekly bingo, and an annual fun run. In the past five years we have also added educational opportunities, including history walks!
Since the foundation of our program, we have strived to provide educational and fun experiences for anyone attending our events. With knowledgeable leaders and a variety of activities offered, our program has helped our community continue
to grow and create lifelong friendships. We offer enlightening experiences for those of all ages to get out, explore, and experience beautiful Cuchara, Colorado.
Our program is full of opportunities to dig deep to learn more about nature, arts and crafts, and the history of the area. Our dynamic and budget-friendly activities are just two of the many benefits visitors receive from spending their summers with the Cuchara Valley Recreational Program.
